Graduate courses and workshops for nonpublic school teachers

Through the New York City Department of Education's Bureau of Nonpublic School Reimbursable Services, Fordham University's RETC – Center for Professional Development offers workshops and graduate–level courses at their facilities for nonpublic school teachers to close the digital divide in their classroom and enhance their students' learning by utilizing educational technology resources. We emphasize free and inexpensive hardware and software solutions for teachers to use in their classroom and students to use away from the school.

Workshop topics have included

  • LEGO Robotics (RCX and NXT)
  • Using Microsoft PowerPoint in the Classroom
  • WebQuests
  • Digital Narratives
  • Introduction to SmartBoards
  • Grant Writing for Technology

We offer the following 30 hour courses that award 3 credits from the Graduate School of Education:

  • CTGE 5910 – Computers and Technology for Educators
  • CTGE 5912 – Internet Applications and Distance Learning
  • CTGT 6260 – Media and Technology in Mathematics and Science
  • CTGE 6261 – Media and Technology in Language Arts and Social Studies
