you have an urgent need to improve the success of students and teachers in a high-stakes testing environment? AALPDS is a flexible delivery model that brings online learning to your desktop. AALPDS offers short courses, tutorials, and six-week courses that are learner-focused, interactive, project-based, and instructor-led. AALPDS brings together Fordham University's expertise in academics, the experience of the Internet-based Classroom Connect, and the North Carolina Partnership for Excellence.

Any size district can benefit from AALPDS. We have the content, learning community, and the convenience of 24/7 availability. Are you thinking "outside the box?" Educators engage in collaboration, dialogue, and peer assessment. Using Internet technologies, teachers develop and share learning and curriculum resources with a national network of educators.

AALPDS aims to develop:

  • a customizable PD curriculum that prepares teachers to design and implement effective programs of instruction that produce objective, measurable gains in student achievement.
  • a team of local leaders familiar with instructional resources and technology.
  • new professional development technology tools.
Over 50 schools from 20 districts across the nation participate in AALPDS. We are looking for qualified districts to join this project. If your district is interested in transforming and learning through Internet-based professional development, contact us.

AALPDS has been honored with a national award. The Association for Continuing Higher Education, Inc. (ACHE) presented its Creative Use of Technology Award to Fordham University's Graduate School of Education for its Anytime, Anywhere Learning Professional Development School (AALPDS) in November, 2002. Dr. Kathleen King, Professor, Fordham, and the program's director, accepted the award from ACHE's Instructional Technology and Distance Learning Network in recognition of the project's "innovative uses of instructional and distance learning technologies in lifelong learning." AALPDS's nationwide portal provides online continuing education courses for teachers. Over 1,000 teachers from across the nation have completed courses.
